The Tamkin Foundation, a non-profit California corporation, has continued its ongoing, long term support of efforts to detect, confirm, and distribute to the scientific community important data involving potentially hazardous comets and asteroids.

The Foundation recently issued a grant to the Central Bureau of Astronomical Telegrams for upgrade and enhancement of its computer system tasked with, among other functions, the tracking, verification and evaluation of threats from comets. The Central Bureau of Astronomical Telegrams (CBAT) is the internationally recognized clearing house and depository of new astronomical discoveries.

The CBAT was established in Europe in the 1880’s and currently operates at the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences (EPS) at Harvard University.
