The Tamkin Foundation Inc., a non profit California corporation, has issued a $50,000.00 grant to the Air Safety Institute of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.
The Air Safety Institute is the largest provider of free general aviation safety content in the world, and focuses on reducing general aviation accidents. The Institute actively guides the overall safety culture in general aviation by influencing pilot behavior, policy makers, and training providers.
The grant is made in loving memory of retired United Airlines Captain David “Dave” Robert Landry. Captain Landry was an airline pilot, a labor and safety advocate, and safely and skillfully flew airliners and general aviation aircraft for over 50 years. He repeatedly pointed out the irony that novice pilots who mistakenly flew into bad weather and met their end always had their funerals on bright, sunny days. Dave was a dedicated professional and generously giving of his time and energy to others; he is deeply loved and missed.
